In late October 2012, I was in Washington, DC for the Annual Meeting of the Institute of Makers of Explosives. One evening while in DC, I went out with a member of the IME staff and friend, Susan, to do some night photography. We walked almost 6 miles and spent three hours photographing three subjects: the US Capitol Building, the Washington Monument, and the World War II Memorial with the Lincoln Memorial in the background. Later that week, and just before Hurricane Sandy devastated the East Coast, I drove up to Pennsylvania to visit my friend Len and his family. Len is a lifelong and published nature photographer and was the leader of several of my photography tours. In the midst of our preparations for Hurricane Sandy, Len and I went to New York City to attend a photo exposition. After the exposition was over, we went back across the Hudson River and photographed the Manhattan skyline lit up at night. This collection exhibits some of the photographs made during both outings. Since that time in 2012, I've added other images that fit the description "Night Shots". Updates are listed below:

All images were shot Raw and processed in Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom®. Image #6 ("Manhattan Skyline at Night from New Jersey Ferry Terminal") is a panorama constructed from 12 separate exposures in Adobe® Photoshop® CC to produce the final image (which is 84.8 megapixels and 74.2" x 19.8" in size).
