Valentine’s Day morning. Here I am at the top of Olenilsøya kystfort (about 232 ft up) where we were staked out waiting to see if the morning would bring us some color. This photo was shot just after sunrise. We had just braved high winds (20 – 30 mph) and blowing snow in our faces while we were waiting to see what developed. Although it doesn’t look it in this photo, 7 minutes later, I think it was worth the early morning climb and the wait (next photo).

I needed help getting up this hill as the climb was steep, snowy and icy (again, thankful for Yaktrax). Also thankful to Örvar, who helped me up, and John, who made sure that I made it down safely (going down was way easier that going up).
