Rorbu are traditional types of Norwegian seasonal houses used by fishermen. They are built on land, with one end on poles in the water, to allow access to vessels. Rorbu are found along the coast of Western and Northern Norway, and are most common in the Lofoten islands (archipeligo). Many rorbu are no longer used for fishing, have been renovated, and are now rented out to tourists. While in Leknes, we stayed in rorbu similar to those depicted here at Lofoten Base Camp.
