Evening Twilight: Gates of the Valley
Taken from the Tunnel View overlook. In the photo you can see (left) El Capitan (elev 7,573 ft), (center) Half Dome (elev 8844+ ft), (right) Cathedral Rocks (elev 6,648 ft) and, just below Cathedral Rocks, Bridalveil Fall (617 ft). The large light area on El Capitan that looks somewhat like a waterfall is the scar left behind by a huge ("apartment building sized") boulder that crashed down into Yosemite Valley on 9/28/2017. That rockfall killed one and injured another as it toppled down from the sheer granite face. Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, EF24-105mm f/4L IS II USM, 58 mm, ISO 100, 1/4 sec at f / 11, © 2017, David W.
