Intro. Every June, I represent the US commercial explosives industry at UN sub-committee meetings that address transport and hazard communication of hazardous materials. The meetings are held at the European headquarters of the UN in Geneva, Switzerland. This was a very busy week for me, so there wasn't a lot of time for photography; however, some opportunities presented themselves. Photo info. Click the slideshow icons at left to see the photos from the trip. For the photographers out there, here's an interesting tidbit of information. Of the interiors shot at the Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption de Bellevaux, only one was on tripod (image #12). All of the other church interiors were shot handheld at high ISOs (ISO 2000 - 3200) to compensate for the low light level in the church. Today's DSLRs are doing a remarkable job of handling low light situations, especially when compared to the films of yesteryear. The following equipment was used:
