Intro.  On October 19, 2014, while in Washington, DC for a meeting, I visited Arlington National Cemetery with my colleague, Noel Hsu.   Noel often accompanies me as part of the delegation to the UN sub-committee that I work on and is also a very talented photographer.  As we travel various places for UN-related work, he and I often take time off for a photo excursion.  We spent this beautiful Sunday morning exploring the cemetery and watching the Changing of the Guard ceremony.

All images were shot Raw (D60 & 7D) and processed in Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom®.  Additional photo data is provided below each photo in the slideshow.  Enjoy the photos!

Fallen.  This collection includes one photo from a previous visit to Arlington National Cemetery on October 24, 2007.  The photo, "Fallen", was taken while my co-worker, Debbie Payne, and I waited for a shuttle bus to take us up to the Tomb of the Unknowns.  I was just sitting on a bench waiting on the bus when Debbie pointed out the scene and suggested that I photograph it.  So, without her, this photo wouldn't exist.  Thank you, Debbie.

Amid the many, "His Wife".   This photo is a departure from my usual style.  Below, you will see what the image really looked like (left) and as presented in the slideshow (right).  The final image was created in Lightroom by converting the image to black-and-white, applying a hi-contrast blue filter, and using a radial filter and adjustment brush to highlight the single marker facing the camera.

The Photographer and his Subject.  There are two photos in the collection titled "The Photographer ..." and "... and his subject: Amphitheater Detail, Tomb of the Unknowns".  The photographer is Noel, who likes to challenge me to do something creative.  Also, he enjoys compositing his photos into triptychs.  For this outing, he challenged me to pick 3 photos from the shoot and to make my own triptych.  The following is the result.
