Introduction.  The Palouse is a region encompassing parts of southeastern Washington, north central Idaho and parts of northeast Oregon. Punctuated by seemingly endless rolling hills of cultivated land, it is a major agricultural area, primarily producing wheat and legumes. Whitman County, located in the Palouse and where most of the photography in this collection was done, is a highly productive agricultural county, producing more barley, wheat, dry peas, and lentils than any other county in the United States.  It's these rolling hills that make the Palouse a popular destination for photographers.

In late May and early June of 2018, Patty and I traveled to the Palouse to meet up with our friend, Andy Lerman (click here for Andy's website), for a few days of photography.  The days were long (often starting out by 5am and finishing up after 9pm) and were filled with photographic opportunities.  As you'll see, much of these opportunities involved barns, vintage automobiles and the rolling hills of the Palouse.

Thank you.  Thanks to Andy for his planning and scouting, for being my tour guide and chauffeur, and for a good time doing what we love to do ... be out in nature with a camera.  For those of you unfamiliar with Andy, he's a phenomenal professional photographer who masters light and composition for compelling photographs.  An excellent teacher, I learn a lot from Andy each time we get together.  You are encouraged to visit his official website at:  http://www.lermanphoto.com.
